Jan Sebastian Koch’s solo exhibition Måløya will open this week at E.N. Gallery. This exhibition presents a captivating collection of paintings that reflect youthful memories, innocence, and poetic moments of natural beauty—drawn from the landscapes of Iceland and Norway.
Måløya is a remote island in northern Norway — rugged, untouched, and reachable only by boat. Nature rules there: wind-shaped trees, crystal-clear waters, and skies that stretch without end. It’s a place where doors are never locked, and trust still shapes daily life. Bread is traded for fish, and silence is part of the conversation.
This exhibition is rooted in Måløya’s quiet power, but also in an earlier memory: a teenage journey through Iceland, back when it was largely untouched by tourism. Endless greens, wide skies, and a brush with danger made it unforgettable.
The paintings are born from these places — poetic and grounded, mysterious yet open. They invite you into worlds that keep their secrets.
